A unique experience at the Flower Market
What better way to spend a Thursday afternoon than enjoying a double program of contemporary dance at Mercat de les Flors? Last week, this renowned cultural space hosted two very different and complementary pieces that captivated the public’s attention.
The other side of the dance: una proposta de Diana Niepce
In the Pina Bausch room, the spectators had the opportunity to witness a (almost) solo by the Portuguese dancer Diana Niepce, entitled ‘The other side of the dance’. This forty-minute piece is an intense experience where Niepce explores his own body and the relationship with the machine. With a combination of harshness and humor, the artist invites us to reflect on disability and the ability to overcome.
Harmonia: una choreographia de Adrienn Hód
In the MAC room, the spectators were able to enjoy the show ‘Harmonia’, a choreography by the renowned Hungarian choreographer Adrienn Hód in collaboration with Theater Bremen and the company Unusual Symptoms. This piece, performed by five standard dancers and five dancers with functional diversity, takes us on an exciting journey where movement, pain and pleasure become protagonists.
A reflection on diversity and inclusion
Both ‘The other side of the dance’ and ‘Harmonia’ highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the field of contemporary dance. Through the movement of bodies and the interaction with the machine, these shows invite us to question stereotypes and to value everyone’s abilities.
An enriching experience for all
This double program of contemporary dance at the Mercat de les Flors was an enriching experience for all attendees. Both the dancers and the audience experienced moments of emotion and reflection, connecting through the universal language of dance.
