A MUSICAL VIATGE: L’Aigua I The Magic of Simfonia

An unexpected start

The magic of a concert can arise from the most unexpected sources. On this occasion, the proposal of Sílvia Lanao, entitled Water, transported us from the sea depths to the waves that break on the coast. The first impression I had was to be surrounded by the voices of the dolphins and the sirens, creating a unique atmosphere.

World premiere and community project

The piece, commissioned by the Auditorium, marked the beginning of the May 16 concert within the Canta program with the OBC. This initiative allows amateur singers to share the stage with the Cantiga Choir and the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia, fostering an inclusive and vibrant musical experience.

An ode to the water

The composition of Lanao, rich in nuances, evokes both the beauty and the tragedy of water, reminding us of its essentiality for life. The combination of voices and instruments creates a true celebration that reflects on its importance and the need to value it before it is too late.

A concert full of amazing moments

After this powerful work, the concert continued with the cello and orchestra concert n. 1 of Dmitri Shostakovich and the monumental Schéhérazade Symphonic Suite by Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov. The transition between the pieces required a stage adjustment, with more than 150 singers coming out in order, which increased the expectation among the public.

The impact of the soloist

Zlatomir Fung, the young soloist, faced the challenge with an admirable concentration, despite the inconvenience of an audience affected by cough. Its performance was a show in itself; His fingers seemed to dance on the cello ropes, especially during the complicated Cadenza, which left everyone astonished.

An unforgettable musical experience

The wait between the two great works was short thanks to the shine of the OBC and the direction of Marta Gardolińska, who led the orchestra with a hand as a teacher. His ability to flow the music and narrative of Schéhérazade made the audience immerse themselves in a captivating sound universe.

The power of complicity

The energy between instrumentalists, especially percussionists, was palpable. Each time they intervened, they did so with accuracy and passion that seemed to transcend the music itself. As I write these lines, I cannot help but think of the stories that could be imagining, parallel to the princess’s narratives, but always in harmony with music.

An end that evokes the beginning

Concerts like this remind us that music can surprise us, even in its best known forms. Water and Schéhérazade were not only memorable performances, but a journey that transported us to distant places, leaving a deep imprint on the attendees.
