Belarra proposes Pablo Fernández as the new Secretary of Organization of Podemos after the departure of Verstrynge

Belarra’s proposal

The general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has presented Pablo Fernández as a candidate to occupy the position of Secretary of Organization of the party after the resignation of Lilith Verstrynge last Friday.

This election must be put to a vote by the State Citizen Council, although it is expected to be confirmed in the next few hours.

Fernández, who currently holds the position of state spokesperson for the party and is a solicitor in the Cortes of Castilla y León, is part of the close circle of the leadership and has been included in the party lists for the European elections.

A change in the Podemos Organization

The position of Secretary of Organization has been held by various people throughout the ten years of the party’s existence. Previously, Sergio Pascual, Pablo Echenique, Alberto Rodríguez and Verstrynge have held this position.

Verstrynge’s departure occurs at a time when Podemos is in a process of renewing its territorial structures.

Verstrynge’s goodbye

Verstrynge announced his resignation via social media, abandoning both his organic responsibilities within the party and his seat in Congress.

After his resignation, Belarra and Irene Montero, political secretary of the party, expressed their gratitude for his work and wished him the best in the future.

Verstrynge’s resignation comes after an intense year for Podemos, during which he had the responsibility of negotiating coalitions at both the territorial and state levels.
