Honor Poetry and Poets
World Poetry Day is a special occasion to pay tribute to poets, revive oral traditions and promote the writing and reading of poetry. This celebration also seeks to encourage the convergence between poetry and other artistic forms such as theatre, dance, painting and music.
Concert ‘Singing to the poets of 27’
The Public Library of Palma Can Sales has organized the concert ‘Cantando a las poetes del 27’, which will take place on March 21 at 6.30 pm. In this event, the pianist, composer and singer Sheila Blanco will be the protagonist.
Sheila Blanco: A Renowned Artist
Sheila Blanco, recognized for her long career as a jazz singer, is known for fusing texts with music from various artistic currents, creating a unique and personal style. Her work is particularly focused on the vindication and recovery of Spanish writers, carefully adapting their lyrics.
A Tribute to the Poets of the Generation of 27
During the concert, Sheila Blanco will perform a selection of poems by some of the best poetesses of the Generation of 27. Through piano music, her performance will give voice and rhythm to the poems, exploring universal themes such as love, pain, exile, beauty and other emotions that permeate his writings.
Outstanding Poets
Some of the honored poetesses include Carmen Conde, Ernestina de Champourcin, Concha Méndez, Pilar de Valderrama and Margarita Ferreras, all of them important figures in Spanish literary history.
Recovering Literary History
Sheila Blanco has carried out extensive research to select the poems she will perform during the concert, with the aim of making known and honoring these women who have been unjustly forgotten from the literary Generation to which they belong.
An Enriching Experience
During the show, Sheila Blanco will contextualize each poem, offering an enriching experience that will highlight the importance and legacy of the poetesses of the Generation of 27. In addition, the singer will perform two additional poems, one of which has been written and composed by herself as a tribute to these writers.
