The opening show

The Spanish singer Chanel, the Albanian artist Eleni Foureira and the Swede Eric Saade will be in charge of starting the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024. The organizing television network, SVT, has trusted these three talented singers to inaugurate the event with a unforgettable show.

The opening event, which will take place on Tuesday 7 May at the Malmö Arena, aims to reflect the festival’s motto, ‘United by Music’. This performance will mark the beginning of an exciting edition of Eurovision, culminating in the grand final on Saturday 11 May.

Featured performances

During the event, the invited artists will perform the songs that catapulted them to fame in previous editions of the contest. Chanel will delight the audience with her performance of ‘SloMo’, the song that took her to third place at Eurovision 2021. For her part, Eleni Foureira will raise the temperature with her hit ‘Fuego’, which took her to second place at Eurovision 2018. Finally, Eric Saade will remember his successful participation with ‘Popular’, which positioned him as the third option in Eurovision 2011.

mixed opinions

Eric Saade’s participation has generated controversy due to his criticism of the EBU for allowing Israel to participate in Eurovision. Despite this, Saade has justified his decision to perform in the first semi-final as a message of love and unity, expressing his discontent with the EBU’s handling of the festival.

The first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 can be seen in Spain through La 2 on TVE, while the second semi-final and the final will be broadcast on La 1.
