Closing of the Poetry Week in Sant Feliu

A poetic contest with great tradition

As every year, the Palau Falguera de Sant Feliu Auditorium hosts the end of Poetry Week, an event that is already considered a tradition in the city. On this occasion, the large painting of the writer and poet from Sant Feliuen Martí Dot presides over the stage, welcoming the attendees.

The 49th edition of the contest has been a great success, with the participation of numerous poets from Sant Feliu and other localities. The themes discussed in the poems presented have been varied, but highlight guilty pleasure, gender violence and resilience.

The prize for the best poetry book of this edition has been awarded to Paula S. Expósito, a talented poet from the Baix Llobregat region. His collection of poems, titled ‘La represa del plaer’, has stood out for its depth and its ability to express complex emotions.

A week full of poetic activities

For ten days, Sant Feliu has been immersed in the celebration of Poetry Week. Concerts, recitals, talks, book presentations and exhibitions have filled the streets and cultural spaces of the city. This edition has had the participation of more than thirty artists and writers, who have shared their passion for poetry with the public.

Mayor Lourdes Borrell highlighted the importance of this event for the city and thanked all the participants and organizers for making another edition of Poetry Week possible. He also remembered the figure of Martí Dot and other poets who have contributed to enriching Sant Feliuen culture.

The generational relief in poetry

During the closing ceremony, Albert Rabell, winner of the previous edition, presented his latest poetic work entitled ‘Fora de la nosa’. Rabell highlighted the importance of poetry as a means of expressing emotions and handed over to this year’s winner, Paula S. Expósito.

Paula S. Expósito has been recognized for her poetry collection ‘La represa del plaer’, which addresses issues such as gender violence and resilience. The jury highlighted his ability to discuss difficult issues with sensitivity and depth. The author thanked the jury for giving visibility to these very important issues.

A tradition that endures

The Martí Dot Poetry Prize has been held since 1974 with the aim of promoting poetry in the Catalan language and supporting young talents. The contest is open to people up to 36 years of age and awards the best original and unpublished poems.

In this edition, a total of 31 poetry collections have been presented, with a balanced participation of male and female poets. The prize, endowed with 1,500 euros, has been awarded to Paula S. Expósito, who sees her career and her poetic talent recognized.

Poetry Week in Sant Feliu is a tradition that endures thanks to the effort and passion of the poets who participate. This event is a unique opportunity to celebrate poetry and give voice to local creators.
