Felipe VI and the Royal Family in Zarzuela
Recently, Felipe VI has made it clear that the Zarzuela Palace is not a hotel, despite having become something similar in recent months. This movement has been motivated by the installation of Irene and Miguel Urdangarin in the palace. The youngest of the Urdangarins spent time volunteering before her arrival, but she had to abandon her dream of becoming a ski coach due to an injury, which led her to remain on medical leave. For this reason, she decided to move to Madrid with Queen Sofia. It has now been revealed that the real reason behind this movement is that both have started a relationship with people who reside in Madrid. Irene is involved with Juan Urquijo, Teresa Urquijo’s brother, while Miguel is in a relationship with Olympia, a Venezuelan student with whom he met in Switzerland.
Conflicts and Decisions
In addition to the movements of Irene and Miguel, there have also been conflicts with Victoria Federica, who arrives in Zarzuela in the wee hours of the morning. All of them hide behind the fact that the palace is the residence of Queen Sofia, while the kings live in the Prince’s Pavilion, one kilometer away from the palace, in the same area.
Given this situation, Felipe VI has informed all members of the royal family that Zarzuela will be closed under lock and key and under surveillance starting next July 25, when the kings and their daughters will move to Marivent. Queen Sofia and Irene of Greece are expected to fly this weekend to Palma de Mallorca, as is customary. They will not allow Irene, Miguel and Victoria to roam freely around the palace with their partners and friends. They will also not be allowed to go to Marivent in the next two weeks, something that has become common in the last decade.

Felipe VI has also made it clear that Pablo Urdangarin and his partner will not be able to go to Marivent, remembering that last year they did not follow his instructions. Although they were in Menorca, they ended up spending a few days in Mallorca, which was not to the liking of the royal family.
