A new adventure by Pablo Iglesias
It is not the beginning of an anecdote, but a new adventure for Pablo Iglesias, former vice president of the Spanish government. He has teamed up with a poet and a singer-songwriter to open a bar in Madrid, La Vanguardia reports. This partnership with Sebastián Fiorilli and Carlos Ávila aims to manage a food and drink establishment that will host cultural gatherings, book launches, acoustic concerts and poetry reading sessions. The bar, called Taverna Garibaldi, will be located in the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés, at Ave María street number 8.
A tribute to the Garibaldi Brigade
The name of the tavern is a clear tribute to the Garibaldi Brigade, a republican brigade that defended the legitimate government after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. This brigade, predominantly composed of Italians, played a prominent role in this conflict.
Details about the establishment
According to La Vanguardia, the Garibaldi tavern will occupy the space where the gastrobar El dinosaurio was previously located, which had emerged from an occupation. The business was registered in the Mercantile Registry on February 16. The establishment is expected to offer a wide variety of dishes, starters, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as an extensive cocktail menu.
Opening date and other projects
The Garibaldi tavern plans to open its doors on March 19. Currently, Pablo Iglesias serves as the director of Canal Red, a media that began its television broadcasts on March 6, 2023 and that also has a digital newspaper.
