The importance of reliability when choosing a car
Although car manufacturers in Spain and Europe focus their commercial campaigns on aspects such as design, consumption and price, the latest study carried out by the Organization of Consumers and Users reveals that the main criterion for choosing a new car is the reliability.
Of almost 30,000 respondents from nine different countries and with 276 different car models, 39% said that reliability is their main criterion when purchasing a new car. This figure far exceeds other criteria such as price, design or consumption.
The success of Japanese brands in Europe
Reliability is one of the main arguments of Japanese brands in Europe, and this OCU study has been no exception. In fact, seven of the ten highest-rated brands are Japanese, which demonstrates the success and good work of Japanese manufacturers in both new and used cars.
The Mitsubishi Outlander: a reliable option on the second-hand market
Mitsubishi, a Japanese brand, is positioned in ninth place in this study, behind compatriots such as Lexus, Toyota, Subaru or Suzuki. However, this speaks highly of Mitsubishi’s build quality. The featured model is the Outlander, a plug-in hybrid that earned the best reliability score in this study.
As with other models from brands such as Lexus, Toyota or Honda, Mitsubishi’s good work in car manufacturing makes them interesting long-term options, as long as the maintenance recommended by the manufacturers is followed.
