An Action Plan for Culture
Over the course of the year, the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA) will launch several initiatives to address working conditions within the cultural sector. These actions include actively listening to the voices of professionals, as well as commissioning a detailed study on the working conditions of outsourced services in public cultural spaces.
Diagnosis and Collaboration
Over an initial period of four weeks, the CoNCA plenary will meet with representatives of associations of artists, technicians, creators, as well as with entrepreneurs and distributors. The aim of these meetings is to obtain a clear and updated vision of the employment situation in the cultural sector. The first two meetings have already taken place recently.
Study of Working Conditions
The CoNCA wants to focus on tasks related to cultural activities, ranging from knowledge generation to the provision of mediation services. This includes tasks such as documentation, content production and services such as ticketing or guided tours.
Recovering Previous Data
With the intention of having an updated perspective, the CoNCA plans to resume a survey that was carried out in 2013. This survey will help assess the current state of working conditions of professionals in the Catalan cultural sector and their impact on their professional development and well-being.
Results and Projections
The results of these initiatives will be presented in the CoNCA Annual Report, which is expected to be published next July. By the end of the year, the CoNCA_Lab will culminate this process with a complete diagnosis and an action plan to improve the working conditions of culture and arts professionals.
A Commitment to Improvement
With these actions, CoNCA reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of workers in the cultural sector, seeking not only to diagnose the current situation, but also to establish a roadmap that drives significant improvements in the future.
