The appeal of the Miquel Martí Pol Foundation continues to fill the future house-museum of the poet in Roda de Ter with books

The Miquel Martí Pol Foundation is looking for books for the poet’s future house-museum

The Miquel Martí Pol Foundation continues its appeal to obtain books for the poet’s future house-museum in Roda de Ter. So far, they have received 604 copies, most of them first editions in very good condition. The aim is to turn the building into a museum to allow visitors to learn about Miquel Martí i Pol’s readings in the same space where he gave them.

The importance of the yellow house in Roda de Ter in the life of Miquel Martí and Pol

The yellow house in Roda de Ter, where Miquel Martí i Pol lived between 1956 and 1981, was a place of inspiration for some of his most important works such as The Town, The Factory and Dear Marta. This house was full of books, with a total of 2,596 inventoried copies. The originals are preserved in the Bac de Roda Library. For this reason, the Foundation started a campaign to obtain transfers from libraries, institutions and individuals who had these titles (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).

The museumization of the yellow house in Roda de Ter

The yellow house in Roda de Ter is in the process of being renovated so it can be visited. Once the rehabilitation is complete, the last step will be the museumisation of the space. The Foundation wants the future house-museum to allow visitors to experience the readings of Miquel Martí i Pol through the more than 2,000 volumes inventoried, many of which are out of print or are in library warehouses. This campaign has been very well received and it is hoped that donations of books will continue to arrive (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
