A balanced diet and the importance of meat
One of the essential elements for a balanced diet is the inclusion of meat. Although moderation is advised in its consumption, it is important that it is present on a regular basis in our diet. With this in mind, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has carried out a study to determine the best places to buy quality meat.
The OCU study
The OCU has carried out a survey of more than 5,000 customers of 18 supermarket chains to learn about their shopping habits. The participants had to rate various aspects about the supermarkets where they shop, including products such as bread, fruit, milk and, of course, meat. After analyzing the answers, the OCU has been able to identify which supermarkets are the best rated and which are the worst rated in terms of buying meat.
Top rated supermarkets
According to the OCU study, the Bonarea supermarket has obtained the highest score, with 85% satisfaction. Just below this, is the Ahorramás supermarket, with 65% satisfaction. These results reflect the positive opinion of customers about the quality of the meat offered in these establishments.
The worst rated supermarkets
On the other hand, the OCU study has revealed that the Dia supermarket is the worst valued by customers in terms of buying meat, being 22 points below the average. This does not necessarily imply a low quality of meat, but indicates that customers prefer other establishments to make this purchase.
Tips for choosing the best supermarket meat
With these results in mind, the OCU offers some tips for choosing the best meat at the supermarket. First of all, it is important to observe the appearance of the meat, which should be bright red and without excess fat. If we buy the meat at the counter, we can ask the butcher to get the best cut. If we prefer packaged meat, it is advisable to read the label and pay attention to the artificial additives it may contain, as these can affect the quality of the product.
