The Symphony of Roses: A Music Festival that Transcends Time

A Musical Celebration that Embraces Catalonia

In an interweaving of harmonies and melodies, the Central Catalunya Music Festival embarks on a new adventure, touring 23 municipalities in six regions: Solsonès, Bages, Anoia, Segarra, Noguera and Berguedà. This year, the festival pays tribute to local and young talent, while maintaining its commitment to international excellence, inviting renowned ensembles.

A Sound Tapestry Inspired by the Rosary Sonatas

The common thread of the festival is a musical masterpiece: Heinrich Biber’s Rosary Sonatas, a cornerstone of the violin repertoire. The festival poster, starring the young soprano Alexandra Nowakowski, evokes the dimension of roses in sonatas, with a nod to the iconic American Beauty poster, since a rosary is, literally, a field of roses.

A Musical Journey Through Emotions

The festival is divided into four weekends, each exploring a different theme. The first weekend focuses on joy, with poetic installations and performances celebrating childhood and youth. The second weekend is immersed in pain, with concerts that evoke passion and death.

El Gozo: A Weekend of Joy and Celebration

On May 11, attendees will enjoy a poetic installation that explores the joy of childhood. On May 12, the Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya will perform the sublime Missa pro defunctis by Cristóbal de Morales in the Cova de Sant Ignasi in Manresa.

Pain: A Weekend of Reflection and Remembrance

On May 18, the Baroque Museum of Catalonia will host a dialogue between Maria Garganté and Raül Garrigasait. At night, in the Roser de Súria church, Cristina Segura and the Ensemble Exclamatio will tackle the music of Handel and Vivaldi about betrayal.

La Gloria: A Weekend of Triumph and Celebration

On June 1, Jaume Ayats will lead a traditional polyphony workshop in Pinós, followed by a succulent baroque banquet. In the afternoon, the Orquestra del Miracle, directed by Juan de la Rubia, will perform Händel’s Gloria and a motet by Francesc Valls.

The Complete Cycle: A Weekend of Culmination

On June 8 and 9, Lina Tur Bonet and Musica Alchemica will present the complete cycle of the Rosary Sonatas, accompanied by beer tastings and Czech delicacies.

A Symphony of Flavors and Culture

Each concert has gastronomic tastings included in the ticket price, highlighting the importance of local products. This commitment to gastronomy has allowed Espurnes Barroques to obtain joint aid from the Departments of Culture, Business and Climate Action.

A Commitment to the Community

The festival goes beyond concerts, with an educational program that reaches schools and social actions in nursing homes and groups of people with functional diversity. This commitment has been key to obtaining support from the private sector, such as the collaboration of the Fundació Banc Sabadell.

Accessibility and Support

The festival offers a wide range of passes and discounts, including a special price for young people of €12. It has also joined the Generalitat’s Youth Culture program to promote young people’s access to concerts.

Friends of Espurnes Barroques enjoy exclusive benefits, such as discounts on museums and visits, exclusive activities and discounts on tickets and passes. To become a friend, simply register on the Espurnes Barroques website and make an annual contribution.

A Musical Legacy for the Future

The Central Catalunya Music Festival is a testament to the power of music to connect people, inspire emotions and enrich our lives. Its commitment to excellence, innovation and inclusion makes it a cultural beacon for the region and beyond.
