The viral song dedicated to the supreme leader of North Korea

The success of a viral song

A catchy tune titled Friendly Father has caused a sensation around the world, including neighboring South Korea. This song has managed to become an unstoppable hit on social networks, even on TikTok. However, South Korea’s media regulator has banned access to this video, considered North Korean propaganda, as it idolizes and glorifies leader Kim Jong-un as a ‘great leader’.

Prohibition of access to video

South Korea’s national security law blocks access to North Korean websites and media outlets to restrict exposure to reinforcements from the Kim regime. This measure aims to prevent the dissemination of content that praises, incites or propagates the activities of the North Korean leader. The Korean Communications Standards Commission has stated that the video in question is typical content linked to psychological warfare against South Korea, as it was posted on a channel operated to connect with the outside world and focuses on unilateral idolizing and glorify Kim Jong-un.

The cult of personality of leaders

Pyongyang’s state media often features exaggerated displays of citizens’ loyalty to their leaders, with the goal of helping them consolidate power and create a personality cult. These demonstrations seek to generate a feeling of adoration and devotion towards the leaders, thus strengthening their position in the country.

The tension in the nuclear race

On the other hand, North Korea has expressed concern about a recent nuclear test carried out by the United States, stating that this increases tension in the arms race. The country has promised to take necessary steps to improve its nuclear deterrent posture. The United States Department of Energy reported that it carried out a subcritical experiment at its Nevada test center, with the aim of collecting data to support the reliability and effectiveness of nuclear warheads.
