A coalition for radical change
Carlos Carrizosa, leader of Ciutadans (Cs), has expressed his intention to work together with the PP to turn Catalan politics upside down. Instead of a complete integration of the two parties, Carrizosa is betting on a coalition in the next elections. This strategy seeks to maintain the Ciutadans brand in Catalonia and offer a more attractive joint offer for constitutionalist voters.
An own brand for Ciutadans
Carrizosa defends that Ciutadans has a sufficiently consolidated brand in Catalan society to compete with its own identity. However, he recognizes that a joint offer with the PP would be more attractive for constitutionalism. The candidate and the details of the coalition have not yet been revealed, but Carrizosa emphasizes the importance of the presence of both parties in this new political stage.
Distance with the PSC
Carrizosa harshly criticizes the PSC, accusing them of being complicit in independence and of harming the Catalan economy. According to him, if the PSC continues with this attitude, Catalonia will head towards an anti-economic tripartite. This could negatively affect projects such as the Hard Rock or the expansion of the airport.
Possible alliances with the PP
The electoral alliances between the PP and Ciutadans are not limited to the Catalan elections, but are also being considered for the European elections. However, this association is still in an initial phase and there is some reluctance on the part of some sectors of the PP. Negotiations continue and efforts are being made to find common ground to achieve center-right unity.
