Anoia closes 2024 with an impulse in employment and business fabric

A positive end of year for employment

Anoia has concluded by 2024 with significant improvement in the labor market, with the number of jobs that have reached levels that have not been seen since June 2008. This positive trend is reflected in an increase of 200 new jobs compared to the previous year, showing stability in the labor sector.

Business stability and growth under construction

According to the latest report from the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce Studies, the total number of companies in the region has reached 3,085, with a modest increase of four new companies compared to the previous year. The construction sector stands out with a growth of 5.8%, while other sectors, such as agriculture and industry, have experienced small losses.

Data by sector

The business fabric in the region has changed significantly by sectors. While the construction has grown with the addition of eighteen companies, sectors such as services, industry and agriculture have seen a decrease in their total number of companies.

Increasing Affiliates and Generational Affiliates

The total number of Social Security members has recorded an increase of 1.2%, reaching almost 54,500 people, the highest figure for December since 2012. This growth has been promoted mainly by women, who have seen a 1.6% increase in their affiliation.

Unevenness of Age and Nationality

Young people under the age of 30 have been the most benefited, with a decrease in unemployment of 4.3%. However, the situation for those between the ages of 30 and 44 has been less favorable, with a decrease in their affiliation. In addition, the increase in foreign workers has exceeded that of the nationals, reflecting changes in the labor dynamics.

An improvement in unemployment rates

The closing of the year has left the region with 6,648 unemployed, the lowest figure for a December since 2007. The unemployment rate is 10.9%, which, despite being the lowest in years, is still higher than the Catalan average.

Challenges in certain sectors

However, unemployment has increased in specific sectors, such as that of scientific and intellectual professionals. This indicates that, despite general improvements, there are still areas that require attention and strategies to foster sustainable growth.

Looking to the future

With a job scenario that shows signs of recovery, Anoia is positioned to face future challenges. The creation of new companies and growth in sectors such as construction suggests a potential for more robust economic development in the coming years.
