Catalonia accelerates financial support in the agricultural sector

Launch of a new payment calendar

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat de Catalunya has announced, on Monday, March 10, a detailed calendar for payments for the grants agreed with the agricultural sector. This initiative responds to an increasing demand for transparency and communication by the agents involved, emphasizing the Catalan government’s commitment to the sector.

Advancement in agricultural policy

Last December, the Department began paying for the Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) for the 2024 campaign, including direct dissociated grants from income and agro -environmental measures. This action was performed within the deadline established by European regulations.

Efficiency in paying management

Thanks to the improvements in the management of applications and the use of innovative tools such as satellite monitoring, 90% of the direct grants dissociated on the first working day was allowed. In addition, payments were anticipated by areas with natural limitations, adding a total of more than 156.1 million euros.

Answers to the crises in the sector

During the same month, additional payments were made to deal with the difficulties that the primary sector has faced, caused by the drought of 2024 and the war in Ukraine. This speed in the payment of grants has been essential for the survival of many farms.

Commitment for 2025

The Department has continued with payments by 2025, ensuring liquidity in the agricultural sector. Direct grants associated with agriculture and livestock, as well as ecoGims, have already been paid, with an advance of more than a month and a half compared to the previous year.

Future payments and commitments

The calendar provides that in April, aid for alternative systems to chemical struggle will be paid, followed by aid to organic farming during the months of May and June. In addition, it is expected to pay the amounts pending direct aid in June, once the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture has defined the final amounts.

Final reflections on Government’s Commitment

With this calendar, the Department reaffirms its dedication to the agricultural sector, ensuring that the aid will reach the beneficiaries efficiently and the deadlines established. The Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya undertakes to continue addressing the most urgent needs and demands of the agri -food sector.
