Collaboration between Renfe and Turisme de Barcelona to promote the train during the America’s Cup

A strategic alliance

In a joint initiative, the general director of Barcelona Tourism, Mateu Hernández, and Javier Pérez, head of Renfe’s high-speed business area, have formalized an agreement during the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2024. This agreement its main objective is to encourage the use of the train in the context of the next America’s Cup.

Reciprocal promotion

Turisme de Barcelona undertakes to promote Renfe services through its publications and at events such as fairs and congresses. In exchange, Renfe will collaborate in the dissemination of cultural activities promoted by the tourist organization. This exchange of visibility is considered by the director general of Turisme de Barcelona and that of Renfe as a unique opportunity to promote the Catalan capital as a tourist destination.

Commitment to tourism diversification

In addition to the promotion linked to the America’s Cup, Renfe plans to develop new themed tourist train routes in collaboration with the Barcelona Provincial Council. This initiative seeks to continue the efforts launched in 2023, thus consolidating a varied and attractive tourist railway offer for visitors.

Signing of the agreement

The agreement was formalized during Fitur with the participation of the president of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, ​​Lluïsa Moret, and the director of Renfe, Raül Blanco. This strategic union between institutions stands out as an important step to consolidate the train as a key means of transport during large-scale sporting and tourist events.
