Granollers celebrates Carnival 2024 with events for all tastes

From February 4 to 14, the city will live a few days of celebration and joy with the Carnival

Granollers is getting ready to experience Carnival 2024, one of the most anticipated parties of the year. From February 4 to 14, the city will be filled with colors, costumes, music and fun with a varied program for all audiences, which includes from the most deep-rooted traditions to the most innovative proposals.

Program of activities for Carnival 2024 in Granollers

Sunday February 4: gypsy dance

The first event of the Carnival will be the Granollers gypsy dance, which will take place in La Porxada on Sunday the 4th. This dance is one of the oldest and most emblematic traditions of the city, which brings together hundreds of people who dance to the rhythm of music and singing. The gypsy dance will kick off the Carnival celebrations in Granollers.

Thursday February 8: arrival of the Carnival King

On Fat Thursday, Thursday the 8th, the Carnival King will make his triumphal entry into the city, accompanied by the charanga Els desmadrats. Their arrival will be at the Palau de Can Solda, where the Carnival proclamation will be read and there will be a tasting of the Abbot’s omelette, one of the typical dishes of this festival.

Friday, February 9: Egg offering and Carnival parade

On Friday the 9th, the boys and girls from the Granollers schools will offer eggs to the Carnival King, who will thank them with a speech full of humor and irony. Afterwards, the Carnestoltes will take a walk through the streets of the historic center, greeting the neighbors and inviting them to participate in the party.

Saturday February 10: parades and concert

Saturday the 10th will be a day full of activities for all tastes. In the morning, there will be the parade and the swing dance organized by Lindy Frogs, an opportunity to enjoy this fun and lively dance style. In the afternoon, the little ones will be able to take part in the parade and the children’s costume dance, with the performance of Landry the Rumbero, who will make them dance to his songs. And at night, the Carnival will move to the factory, with a concert by Mosaic, a pop-rock group from Granoller, and a DJ performance, under the organization of Jovent Ignorat, in Sala Nau B1 of Roca Umbert Arts Factory.

Sunday February 11: Rua de Carnaval

Sunday, February 11 will be the most anticipated day of Carnival: the Street. Troupes who want to participate in the street can register at Granollers.cat/carnaval, where they will also find the rules for participation. The street will follow the usual route of Carrer de les Tres Torres, Avenida Francesc Macià, Carrer d’Alfons IV, Plaça de la Corona, Carrer de Sant Roc and Plaça de la Porxada. The street will be a display of the creativity, joy and enthusiasm of the people who participate, who will delight the public with their costumes, choreography and floats.

Wednesday February 14: Farewell to Carnival

After so many days of partying and debauchery, on the 14th, Ash Wednesday, it will be time to say goodbye to the Carnival King. The Carnival vigil will be held at the Palau de Can Solda, a mourning parade to say goodbye, the reading of the Verses by the Old Woman Quaresma and the Carnival cremation. This is how the reign of the Carnival will end and that of the Old Quaresma will begin, who this year will wear a new dress, made by the Granoller designer Mar Aumedes, of the Taller Sarandaca.
