About 90 people have participated in the camps held in the Alps
Hospitality of Lourdes is an organization whose purpose is to accompany and help the sick and disabled who want to go to Lourdes, the most famous Marian sanctuary in the world. But in addition to the annual pilgrimage, which this year brought together nearly 500 people from all over Osona and Ripollès, Hospitality also organizes other activities for its members and volunteers.
One of these activities is the summer camps, which were held from August 9 to 11 in Alpens, a small town in Lluçanès. About 90 people attended, of which 53 were sick or disabled. During the three days, they enjoyed nature, coexistence and the various recreational and cultural proposals offered by the Hospitality entertainment team.
The regional festival of Hospitality was held in Manlleu
Another notable Hospitality event was the county festival, which was held on February 14 in Manlleu. It is an annual gathering that brings together Hospitality members from all over the region to celebrate their faith and friendship. This year, the party was attended by the bishop of Vic, Romà Casanova, who presided over the mass in the church of Santa Maria. Afterwards, the attendees shared a fraternity lunch in the municipal pavilion and enjoyed the musical and theatrical performances prepared by the Hospitality youth.
The regional Hospitality festival also served to present the new board of directors of the entity, which was elected in January. The new president is Josep Maria Puig, who replaces Josep Maria Roca after 12 years at the head of Hospitality. Puig thanked the partners for their trust and encouraged them to continue collaborating with the organization and the patients. He also recalled the importance of training and awareness for the work carried out by volunteers.
Hospitality also does other activities during the year
Apart from the pilgrimage and the camps, the Hospitality of Lourdes also organizes other activities during the year to maintain contact with the sick and the volunteers. Some of these activities are the local meetings, which take place in each town where there is a Hospitality delegation, the training talks, which deal with issues related to health, faith and solidarity, and the theatrical performances, which are a way for the young people of Hospitality to express themselves and have fun.
Hospitality of Lourdes is an organization that has more than 40 years of history and is part of the Catalan Federation of Hospitality of Lourdes, which brings together more than 10,000 people. Its aim is to accompany and care for the sick and disabled who want to go to Lourdes, a place where you can experience the presence of the Virgin Mary and the power of prayer.
