Registration of the working day: Mandatory Changes for Companies

Mandatory Changes for Companies

The Ministry of Labor, led by Yolanda Díaz, has called a meeting with employers and unions to address the law on the reduction of working hours, which includes significant changes in the registration of working hours.

According to the latest draft of the law, all companies, regardless of the size of their workforce, will have to record the working hours of their employees using telematic means. This involves eliminating paper sheets with check-in and check-out quadrants, replacing them with a mandatory digital record.

Increase in Fines

In addition to the change in the registration system, the proposal also includes an increase in the fines for those companies that fail to comply with this obligation. The aim of this measure is to ensure compliance with the new regulations and promote transparency in labor relations.

Meeting to Advance an Agreement

The Ministry of Labor has held several meetings with social agents to advance an agreement on this important labor reform. However, significant progress has not yet been made on reducing the maximum working time, which is expected to be 38.5 hours per week in a first phase.

Mandatory Online Registration

Initially, it was considered to limit the obligation of electronic registration to companies with more than 50 employees, but in the last draft this reference has disappeared. This means that all companies, regardless of their size, will have to maintain a daily record of work done by digital means.

Access to the Records

The new regulations also provide access to inspectors and union representatives to the database collected by time control applications. This measure seeks to guarantee the integrity of the records and prevent possible manipulations by companies.
