Remedial Herbs Fair: a tradition that is being renewed in Osona

The fair, which is held every year in February, offers a wide variety of natural and organic products

The Remeires Herbs Fair is one of the most anticipated events for nature and health lovers in Osona. This event, which takes place every year in February, brings together more than 50 exhibitors who offer all kinds of natural and organic products, from medicinal plants, cosmetics, food, books, handicrafts, etc.

The fair has its origin in the ancient tradition of collecting and using the medicinal herbs that grow in the territory, and that have beneficial properties for health and well-being. This practice, which dates back centuries, has been passed down from generation to generation, and today it is still alive thanks to the dissemination and conservation work done by the groups and entities that participate in the fair.

Activities for all audiences

The Remeires Herbs Fair is not only an opportunity to buy and learn about the natural and organic products on offer, but also to learn and enjoy a series of activities that are scheduled during the three days that the fair lasts. These activities include talks, workshops, demonstrations, guided tours, concerts, exhibitions, etc.

This year, the fair will have the presence of renowned experts in the field of medicinal herbs, such as Dr. Montserrat Palacín, the botanist Joan Vallès, the pharmacist Rosa Nogué, or the naturologist Josep Pàmies, among others. In addition, there will be special activities for the little ones, such as a natural soap workshop, a storyteller, or a clue game to discover healing herbs.

A fair with social and environmental commitment

The Remedial Herbs Fair aims not only to promote natural and ecological products, but also to raise awareness of the importance of respecting and caring for the environment and biodiversity. For this reason, the fair is committed to a model of responsible production and consumption, which takes into account the criteria of quality, proximity, sustainability and social justice.

Likewise, the fair also has a solidarity aspect, as it allocates part of the profits to social and environmental projects that are carried out both in Osona and in other places in the world. This year, the fair will collaborate with the Catalan Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People, which works to defend the human rights and freedom of the Sahrawi people, and with the NGO Mans Unides, which fights against hunger, poverty and inequality in the world.

A fair with history

The Remeires Herbs Fair was born in 1987, as an initiative of the Associació d’Herbolars d’Osona, with the aim of recovering and disseminating the knowledge and use of the region’s medicinal plants. Since then, the fair has been growing and consolidating itself as a reference in the sector, and has had the support of the Vic City Council, the Osona County Council, the Provincial Council of Barcelona, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and other collaborating entities and companies.

The Remeires Herbs Fair is held every year in February, coinciding with the feast of Santa Apol·lònia, the patron saint of herbalists. The fair takes place at the El Sucre fairgrounds, an emblematic space in the city of Vic, which welcomes thousands of visitors every year who come to enjoy this unique and singular fair.
