Detecting irregularities: a new approach
The Municipal Institute of Finance (IMH) has begun an inspection process that has revealed fleets of vehicles that had changed its address to reduce the payment of the tax on mechanical traction vehicles (IVTM). This initiative has allowed us to regularize the tax situation of these companies, significantly increasing the number of liquidations.
Increased liquidation and collection
Thanks to the measures taken, the number of liquidations has grown exponentially, from 15 to 43 in just one year. This has led to an increase in the liquidated amount, which has jumped from 119,000 euros about 3.5 million euros, showing the positive impact of the inspections.
The municipal finances in numbers
The municipal tax management is essential, as it represents 43% of the City Council’s income, with a total of 1,549.6 million euros. Of the total, 54% come from the IBI, while 10% correspond to the self -assessments of capital gain. According to 2024 report data, revenue has increased by 1.4% in the last year.
Innovation in Payment: Bizum as an alternative
The council has reached a collection percentage of 95.4% of the liquidated revenue as of December 31, 2024, considering it an excellent indicator of its efficiency in management. In addition, online procedures have grown by 15%, and payments through Bizum have multiplied by ten, although they still represent only 1.9% of the total.
Evolution of electronic communication
In the framework of the modernization of the IMH management system, a significant improvement in electronic communications has been observed, which now constitute 29% of the notifications. This transition has generated a significant savings of 2.2 million euros for the City Council.
Increased citizen care
In 2024 he has also marked an increase in customer service, with an increase of 4.6% in the number of people attended, from 29,492 to 30,841, thus reflecting a commitment to the improvement of the service to the citizenry.
