Santi Vila trusts in justice and hopes to be declared innocent
The former Minister of Culture, Santi Vila, trusts in the justice system and hopes that the Sixena case will be dismissed. In addition, he trusts that both he and former councilor Lluís Puig will be declared innocent. In statements to ‘Ser’, Vila reiterated that the two acted in an exemplary manner, trying to respect Catalan laws that prioritized the protection of the claimed art. Vila was satisfied because the trial will have the absolute support of the Generalitat, a change compared to the stage of President Quim Torra.
A long process and relief for Santi Vila
Santi Vila has recalled that the litigation of the 44 pieces of Sixena has been a long process of more than 6 years and after the oral judgment was handed down, he feels relieved and satisfied. All this time he has had money withheld and the situation has prevented him from making certain decisions. Vila hopes that the case will be filed and that both he and Puig will be declared innocent.
Confidence in the protection of the claimed art
Vila recalled that the Catalan heritage law protected a series of works claimed by the judge and that legal procedures were followed to make delivery possible. However, the situation was rushed and in full application of article 155, the judicial entourage entered the Museum of Lleida to take the art. Now it will be seen if they acted correctly.
Legal support from the Generalitat
Santi Vila was pleased to have recovered the legal support of the Generalitat in the cause, after losing the support of the Government during the time of President Quim Torra. According to Vila, since there is Pere Aragonès they contacted him to tell him that the situation had to be re-conducted. In this sense, he pointed out that Aragonès told him that both he and Puig were suffering from a complicated situation due to having acted in the exercise of their position and it was very important that they accept the Government’s defense.
