The IBEX 35 starts the session with a slight rise

IBEX 35 and the US Federal Reserve meeting

The IBEX 35 started this Tuesday’s session with a slight rise of 0.07%. This has brought the Madrid index to 10,603.9 points. This day is marked by the start of the monetary policy meeting of the Federal Reserve of the United States (Fed). However, it will be Wednesday when the Fed issues its statement on possible interest rate cuts.

Business changes in Spain

In the Spanish business arena, Indra’s board of directors has approved the separation of its space business unit. This unit will be integrated into a new limited liability company called Indra Espacio. In addition, the Basque group Arteche has obtained a record net profit of 12.1 million euros in 2023, an increase of 56.9% compared to the previous year. The company will also propose a dividend of 6 million euros.

Movements in the IBEX 35 and other European stock exchanges

In the first steps of this session, the most prominent risers within the IBEX 35 are Grifols (+0.64%), Indra (+0.53%), CaixaBank (+0.5%) and Inditex (+ 0.49%). On the other hand, the most notable drops are Solaria (-1.71%), ACS (-1.64%) and Rovi (-0.57%). The main European stock markets open with mixed trends, with Paris and London unchanged, Milan down 0.04% and Frankfurt down 0.07%.

Oil prices and currencies

At the stock market open, the price of a barrel of Brent crude fell 0.23% to $86.69, while the price of a barrel of Texas oil stood at $81.99, a 0.21% less. In terms of currencies, the euro appreciated against the dollar, reaching $1.0857. In the debt market, the interest required on the 10-year Spanish bond rises to 3.239%.
