The new equipment, which will be built in the Chamber of Agriculture, will have more than 1,200 m2 and will offer services and activities for the elderly and for culture
The new Sant Celoni Home for the Elderly already has the clearest path for its construction. The executive project, which envisages locating the new equipment in the building of the Chamber of Agriculture, has received a favorable fire prevention report from the Fire Department, an essential requirement to be able to move forward with the initiative.
With this good news, the Sant Celoni City Council will urgently bring to the Municipal Plenum this Thursday the final approval of the executive project, which has an execution budget of 2,217,173 euros. Once approved, it will be possible to tender for the works, which are estimated to last around 15 months.
A multigenerational and multipurpose space
The new Casal de la Gent Gran will be a facility that will respond to the current and future needs of the elderly in Sant Celoni, but also to the demand for multipurpose cultural spaces. The project envisages preserving the current building of the Agricultural Chamber, which has two floors, and adapting it for the new functions.
The ground floor will be for the elderly, and will have an event room, a physical activity room, a workshop, a recreational space and toilets. The first floor will be used for administrative tasks, and will have a training room, an administration room, a warehouse, an office and a concierge. The equipment will have a total surface of more than 1,200 m2 and will surround a central garden area.
The project defines the new Casal de la Gent Gran as a multi-generational space inserted into the social fabric of the town, which will make it possible to offer services and activities both for the elderly and for other groups and entities. Thus, the aim is to create a modern, functional and integrated facility in the municipality.
