The current state of the Defensora structure
The structure of the Defensora does not show as serious damage as expected after the impact Intense week of meetings. Despite the work carried out to clear the interior of the building, the latest investigations show that the damage is not as significant as initially predicted.
The Councilor for Heritage, Juan A. Lorente, has informed that many elements of the structure will be preserved and will be used in the reform. However, the demolition process must be completed to confirm the final state of the building. It has been agreed to transfer this information both to the Board of Governors of the Defender and to the Citizen Platform in several meetings held this week.
Recent assignments and hires
In addition to following the process of choosing materials and stabilizing the remaining walls, some important contracts have been made. An architect has been hired for 18,000 euros and a geotechnical study has been commissioned for 6,000 euros. A scenic consultancy has also been hired for 18,000 euros and the project under construction has been modified at a cost of 18,000 euros, all with the urgent aim of rebuilding the Defensora.
The new project
The municipal technicians have begun to outline the details of the new project to continue with the recovery of the emblematic building. It is confirmed that the project will be drawn up by the City Council itself, without recourse to an external cabinet. The proposal will be based on reality and will not have exaggerated claims.
Jaume Casanovas, president of the Associació Defensora Sollerense, expresses his full support for the talks held with the government team and assures that he will ensure the restoration of the building during his term as president of the entity.
Community support
The Platform has already managed to collect 700 signatures in favor of the reconstruction of the Defensora, demonstrating the community’s support for this project.
