The Xurigué de Calafell Carnival 2024 with important changes

Calafell City Council presents the 2024 Carnival schedule

The Xurigué de Calafell Carnival arrives this 2024 with significant changes. Calafell Town Council has presented the Carnival 2024 programme, marked by notable changes with the aim of enriching the event and attracting a more familiar audience.

The mayor of the municipality, Ramon Ferré, has explained that the purpose of the alterations is to overcome the difficulties experienced in previous editions and to establish more reasonable and coordinated timetables with other municipalities of the Penedès Marítim.

Modifications to improve the participant experience

Ferré specified that these changes are an experiment and, if they did not work as expected, another strategy would be considered. Aspects of our Carnival that needed improvement have been detected, both in coordination with other municipalities and in the potentially inadequate timetables, and that is why we have opted for a change.

The news of the Xurigué de Calafell Carnival

One of the important changes is the transfer of the traditional Rua del Poble that used to be celebrated on Sunday afternoon. Now it will be held on Friday evening to reduce the traveling time of the troupes and allow the participation of the little ones.

In addition, Calafell’s Rua de Segur is now held at noon on Saturday, as it used to take place on Friday night. With this change, the aim is to create a more familiar atmosphere and encourage the participation of the inhabitants. The classic Saturday night rue at the Beach remains unchanged.

Finally, a new street is added on Sunday afternoon at Platja de Segur de Calafell, aimed specifically at family audiences to avoid coincidences with other local events. With these adjustments, Calafell City Council aims to revitalize the Carnival and improve its coordination with other celebrations in neighboring municipalities.
