The fair dedicated to the world of wood will be held this weekend in the capital of El Ges and will offer workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions for all audiences.
A benchmark for wood in Catalonia
Toca Fusta is a fair that aims to raise awareness of the importance of wood as a sustainable, ecological and versatile material. For 14 years, Torelló has become the meeting point for professionals, fans and those curious about wood, who can enjoy a wide range of activities related to this sector.
This year, the fair will have the participation of more than 40 exhibitors, who will show their products and services, from furniture and toys to musical instruments and models. In addition, there will be live demonstrations of different wood trades and techniques, such as turning, marquetry, carpentry or carving.
More attention to children
One of the novelties of this edition is that the offer of activities for the little ones has been reinforced, with the aim of encouraging their interest in wood and their respect for nature. Thus, children will be able to participate in toy building, wood decoration, painting with natural pigments or puppet creation workshops. They can also enjoy a free play area with wooden pieces of different shapes and sizes, and a storytelling show with wooden characters.
Toca Fusta also wants to be a space for dissemination and awareness about wood and its role in sustainable development. For this reason, the fair will host several talks and conferences on topics such as forest management, wood recycling, sustainable architecture or the therapeutic properties of wood. In addition, there will be an exhibition on the world’s forests, with photographs and informative panels.
A tourist and cultural attraction
Toca Fusta is a fair that generates great interest among visitors, both from the region and outside. According to the organization, last year around 15,000 people passed through the fair, and this year it is expected to exceed this number. The fair is therefore a tourist and cultural attraction for Torelló and for Ges, which contributes to boosting the local economy and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage of the area.
Toca Fusta will be held on December 14 and 15 in the center of Torelló, with a schedule from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entry is free and open to everyone. The fair has the support of Torelló City Council, the Ges Regional Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya and various entities and companies in the wood sector.
