Everything starts again
Today is September 12, a special date for all the families of Sant Feliu. It is the day when children go back to school and a new school year begins. This year, there are many new developments that are being implemented to promote inclusive education in the city’s schools. The inaugural conference of the course, which will be held on September 22, will be dedicated to the inclusive school and will have the participation of the councilor for education, Mireia Aldana. This conference is an opportunity for the entire educational community of Sant Feliu to learn about the new initiatives and objectives that they want to achieve.
An inclusive multi-sensory classroom at the Tambor preschool
One of the novelties of this year is the creation of a multi-sensory classroom at the Tambor nursery school. This classroom is specially designed to attend to children with disabilities and work in an integral way on their physical and cognitive development. This initiative is the result of an agreement with the Nexe Foundation, an organization dedicated to the care of children with multiple disabilities. The aim is that all children can benefit from this classroom, but it is of particular importance for those with a disability.
An inclusive school for everyone
Sant Feliu is working to become an inclusive city in all areas, including education. This year, a comprehensive support classroom has been launched that will serve the entire region. This classroom will make it possible to attend to the special needs of children with disabilities within the framework of ordinary education. A new training cycle has also been created at Escola Xamfrà Sant Miquel, which is focused on young people with intellectual disabilities and combines theoretical and practical training in areas such as sales and customer service.
Improvements to school facilities
During the summer months, several improvements have been made to the Sant Feliu school facilities. One of the outstanding reforms has been carried out at the Salvador Espriu school, where windows, doors, shutters have been changed and the electrical installation has been improved. In addition, small repairs have been carried out in other schools and rose gardens have been installed in the courtyards of some centers to enhance the beauty of the city.
Musical projects and a Hospitality School underway
This year, the Sant Feliu Municipal School of Music has a new center of interest related to music and dance. In addition, a string project has been started in Primary at the Falguera and Gaudí schools, with the aim of bringing the music school closer to the students of these schools. On the other hand, work is being done on the Hospitality School project, which will be located in the Nau de Can Bertrand. Although the start-up of this school has been delayed, it is expected that in the coming years it can become a reality.
With these novelties and initiatives, Sant Feliu demonstrates its commitment to inclusive education and the improvement of school facilities. This new school year promises to be exciting and full of opportunities for all the children in the city.
