Demands for security of health personnel in prisons in Catalonia

Nurses union demands protective measures

The nurses’ union Satse Catalunya has asked for appropriate security protocols and resources to safeguard health professionals working in Catalan prisons.

After the tragic event of March 13, in which a worker at Mas d’Enric lost her life at the hands of an inmate, the organization has shown its support for the demands of prison officials.

Collaboration between Justice and Health

Satse has stressed the importance of the Departments of Justice and Health working in a coordinated manner to find effective solutions.

The union warns of the lack of sufficient personnel to guarantee security inside the penitentiary centers and calls for improving the working conditions of healthcare professionals.

Exposure to occupational risks

The nurses highlight the vulnerability of healthcare staff to possible assaults and incidents in prisons, highlighting the lack of security staff at critical times.

According to the union, working conditions in prisons reflect the tensions and problems of society, with an increase in aggressive situations in the healthcare environment.

Solidarity and condolences

Satse, despite representing the nursing collective, has expressed his support for the prison workers and has conveyed his condolences to the family of the beautiful worker.

The union organization recognizes the importance of the safety and protection of health personnel who work in a high-risk environment, highlighting the need to act together to improve working conditions.
