Premiere of the ‘Delicios fiscorn’ concert at the Petit Palau of the Palau de la Música

A concert-show for babies

Next Sunday, June 30, in two stages (at 11 a.m. and at 12.30 p.m.), the premiere of ‘Delicíos fiscorn’, a new concert-show aimed at babies from 0 to 14 months.

A unique artistic proposal

This proposal, of great artistic sensibility and participatory dynamics with Pep Moliner as the main soloist and the Portuguese company Musicalmente, is part of the series of Family Concerts at the Palau and will also be the first of three concerts that the Palau will host as part of of the celebration of this year’s Greek Festival.

The fiscorn of cobla

The fiscorn de cobla is a metal wind instrument that we can only find in this formation where, together with the trombone, it is one of the most serious metal wind instruments and fulfills a double function: playing melodies and countersongs and playing bass and accompaniments.

A concert to enjoy as a family

‘Delicios fiscorn’ invites families to surround the stage and enjoy the concert-show with maximum proximity. The protagonist will be Pep Moliner, fishorn and trombone player, titular professor of fiscorn at ESMUC and fishorn player at Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona.

An international collaboration

In this performance, Moliner will play both the rod trombone and the fishorn, and will do so accompanied by the Portuguese company Musicalmente, created and led by the pedagogue and musicologist Paulo Lameiro, one of the great European references in the live arts for the first childhood Lameiro and Musicalmente had previously performed at the Palau, but this show is the first co-production they have undertaken together with the Educational Service of the Palau de la Música.

Closing of the Family Concerts season

With the premiere of the ‘Delicious fiscorn’ concert-show, the Palau’s Educational Service closes the 2023-24 Family Concerts season, in which a total of 35 concerts and educational activities aimed at families have been offered. For two decades, the Palau has been offering concerts and educational activities of its own production to facilitate the shared musical experience between fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, etc., while creating a fun moment in an unrepeatable environment. The Palau’s family shows have been designed and created so that music interacts with other forms of artistic expression, such as dance, theatre, poetry or the visual arts, with the aim of enhancing curiosity, sensitivity and imagination and the creativity of young and old.

Part of the Greek Festival

‘Delicios fiscorn’ is a concert that forms part of the program of Grec, Barcelona’s summer festival, which is celebrating its 48th edition this year. It will be the first of three that the Palau de la Música will host as part of this festival. After the double concert on June 30, the Palau will offer ‘Night and Dawn’ with Ola Gjeilo on July 5 (Petit Palau, 8 p.m.), in which the composer will play a selection of his published albums on the piano, in addition to ‘improvise with his usual exquisite beauty. The Grec at the Palau will close the concert ‘Al órredo d’Ola Gjeilo’, on July 7 (Concert Hall, 12 p.m.), with the Catalan Orfeó, the Young Choir, the Girls’ Choir of the Catalan Orfeó and the Ola Gjeilo himself at the piano, accompanied by other musicians and voices performing the composer’s repertoire.
