The Government allocates 1.8 million euros in grants to promote nursing research and innovation

The Government has agreed this Tuesday on an allocation of 1.8 million euros in aid to encourage research and nursing innovation. The aim of this call is to encourage nurses to dedicate their days to research for two years, by hiring or appointing substitutes to carry out the care tasks from which they are released.

Increase the critical mass of nurses and research nurses

According to the Government, this initiative aims to increase the critical mass of nurses who carry out research activities, with the aim of advancing nursing knowledge, transferring results to daily clinical practice and significantly improving assistance to the patients

Grants open to research centers in the field of health

The grants will be open to health research centers and can be implemented in 24 months. This budget allocation will be distributed in different budget years: 630,000 euros this year, 810,000 euros next year and 360,000 euros in 2027. These resources will finance contracts for the intensification of nursing staff within the framework of the Strategic Plan for Research and Innovation in Health (PERIS) 2022-2027.

Background and investment in nursing professionals

Since 2016, the Department of Health has carried out four calls for aid for the intensification of nursing professionals and other health professionals, with a total investment of more than 4 million euros. This investment has benefited a total of 129 nursing professionals.
