An exhibition that renames the story
The Ibi Toy Museum presents a new exhibition that highlights the contribution of women in the toy industry, a tribute to those who opened roads in a world traditionally dominated by men. The inauguration, scheduled for May 1st, will allow visitors to explore this facet often forgotten until September.
The testimony of a generation
According to Pilar Avilés, coordinator of the museum, the exhibition ‘La woman in the factories’ seeks to remember and value the essential work of women in the sector. ‘Until that time, most were engaged in household chores and, from time to time, agriculture. Entering a factory was a step towards independence and a radical change in their lives, ” says Avilés.
A new space of knowledge and socialization
The incorporation of women into factories not only involved a change in their labor role, but also created a new space for socialization. “The long working days encouraged the creation of networks with each other,” says Avilés, emphasizing the importance of this aspect in the daily life of the workers.
A journey through time
The exhibition includes a series of information panels presented by photographs and testimonies of interviews of the time, which offer a direct view of the experiences experienced by these women. This compilation allows the public to better understand the working conditions and their influence on the society of that time.
An invitation to discover
Pilar Avilés encourages everyone to visit ‘The woman in the factories’ to discover a part of the heritage that has been too long in the shade. ‘Women’s work has often been invisible in history. Through this exhibition, we want to recognize the fundamental role they played in toys and in other industrial sectors, ” concludes Avilés.
