Salt opens a second municipal kangaroo space ‘Minuts Menuts’

Salt expands the ‘Minuts Menuts’ program

Salt, a municipality in the Gironès region, has inaugurated a second municipal space for the ‘Minuts Menuts’ babysitting program. This new place, located in the Espai Gaudí on Carrer Greco, started operating at the beginning of this month. In just three weeks, twenty families have already used this service, with a total of 25 children benefiting from this opportunity.

A program in great demand

The ‘Minuts Menuts’ program has been very well received since its launch in October 2022 at the Som Salt municipal space. During the year 2023, more than a hundred children made use of this service, which seeks to promote family reconciliation in a timely manner. During the first quarter of this year, around sixty families have already used this service.

Basic care and education in leisure time

The ‘Minuts Menuts’ program offers children basic care and educational activities during their free time. With the presence of two educators in each municipal space, children receive quality attention while their families can devote a few hours a week to other tasks. This service allows families in Salt to reconcile work, family and personal life.

Times and ages

The new space at Espai Gaudí offers opening hours from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. from Monday to Friday, and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays. This service is intended for children from four months to six years. The Som Salt space, on the other hand, offers the service from 9 am to 1 pm from Monday to Friday, and from 3 pm to 6 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Recognition and support

The first lieutenant of the mayor’s office and councilor for Social Rights and People’s Services, Fanny Carabellido, highlights the importance of this service for the families of Salt. The opening of the second space makes it possible to expand a service that is in high demand and well used by families. In addition, Carabellido highlights the educational aspect of this program, as it offers children an opportunity for socialization and exposes families to the options of enrollment in nursery schools.

A service for everyone

The mayor of Salt, Jordi Viñas, emphasizes that this service is available to the entire population of Salt. Regardless of their circumstances, families can request this service for timely family reconciliation. The mayor underlines the importance of this service for the community and his commitment to making the daily lives of Salt’s families easier.
