A Urgent Commitment in front of the Tragedy
The situation in the Gaza Strip has reached alarming levels as a result of the conflict between Israel and Hamás, which began on October 7, 2023. Violence has triggered a devastating number of deaths and destruction, with a direct impact on the civilian population, including children and women.
Action of the Valencian Community
In response to this emergency, the Valencian Fund for Solidarity has launched a protocol of humanitarian action. This initiative seeks to raise funds urgently through the contributions of the local entities of the Valencian Community, which will be destined to a support project for the affected population.
Details of the initiative
The project will run in collaboration with the United Nations Agency for refugees in Palestine in the Middle East (UNRWA), and will include help for the most basic needs, such as access to water, food, medical material and hygiene products. The Fund Executive Board has approved this project to mitigate the devastating consequences of the conflict.
The reality in Gaza
Gaza hospitals face a total collapse, with an exponential increase in the number of patients injured. The infrastructure have been severely damaged, and the lack of housing and essential services has left the population in a situation of extreme vulnerability.
Impact of the blockade
The Israeli blockade has made it difficult to enter humanitarian aid, which has further aggravated the crisis. Resources such as water, food and fuel are scarce, and the international community has been called to act urgently to guarantee the human rights and the necessary assistance.
A call to action
The Valencian Fund for Solidarity calls on all the councils and associations of the Valencian Community, whether or not they are members of the entity, to contributing with exceptional resources. Collaboration is essential to expand the scope of the project and offer an effective response to the humanitarian crisis.
