Extension and reform works
The expansion and reform works of CAP Moisès Broggi de l’Escala have already started and are expected to last a year. The project consists of the construction of a new building adjacent to the current CAP, which will also be subject to reform.
Improvement of services
With the expansion, the CAP will have 25 consultations, both scheduled care and continuous and urgent care. The building, with two floors, will have continuous and urgent care on the ground floor with external and differentiated access, where the ambulance base of the SEM (Medical Emergency Service) will be located. The first floor of the extension will be used as rest areas for on-call and EMS professionals.
Connection with the existing building
The new facilities will be internally connected to the existing building and will share the same admissions and reception desk. The expansion will free up spaces in the current CAP that will be used to reorganize it and obtain a more transparent care area. Scheduled care will be maintained in this area.
Investment and financing
The work is financed by the Catalan Health Service, and of the 1.8 million euros foreseen, 1.6 correspond to the execution of the work, awarded to the company Cosplaan, Obras y Servicios Laantit, SL, and 250,000 euros, to an equipment forecast. The project is designed by Coll-Leclerc Arquitectes.
Basic Health Area of l’Escala
The Basic Health Area (ABS) of l’Escala, managed by the Empordà Health Foundation, provides assistance to nine municipalities: l’Escala, Albons, l’Armentera, Bellcaire d’Empordà, Torroella de Fluvià, Sant Pere Pescador, Ventallo, Viladamat and Vilamacolum. The total population has increased by 20% since the creation of the CAP in 2004.
