The County Council promotes a new school transport line
The County Council has expressed its desire to promote a new school transport line that will go from Torà and Biosca to Solsona for the next academic year. From the transfer of the two municipalities of La Segarra to Solsonès, their secondary school students will have their reference institute in the regional capital and not in Guissona, as until now. Sara Vilches, the regional councilor for Education, has assured that at the moment they are working on the tender for the project, although they will have to wait to obtain the corresponding authorizations from the Department.
Change of reference center for secondary school students
Until this academic year, the students from the two municipalities attached to the region who passed from primary to ESO had their reference center in Guissona, but, from the change of ownership, it will be the Francesc Ribalta de Solsona high school . As Vilches has pointed out, the government will be responsible for subsidizing the transport of these students through the new bus line that will start its journey in Torà, pass through Biosca and Llobera and reach the county capital. With this, there will be seven school transport routes that Solsonès will have.
Reaction of the affected municipalities
According to the mayor of Torà, Isabel Torres, this “is one more of the adaptations that must be implemented to make its transfer to Solsonès fully effective”. In addition, he explained that although the distance that the students will have to travel will be noticeably longer than when they went to Guissona, the duration of the journey will be approximately the same, since “the route to Solsona is very direct” and in the previous “they used to make more stops”.
Presentation of the educational offer
The management of the Francesc Ribalta high school presented the families of Torà and Biosca with their center and curriculum and, according to Torres, they were very satisfied with the educational offer. The factor they were most looking forward to was transport, but their opinion changed when they learned about the plan that is expected to be implemented in September, as the mayoress explained.
Subsidies for transport and canteen
In the next school year, young people who pass from primary to secondary school will be able to enroll in Solsoní high school and, therefore, they will also be able to access the subsidies approved by the Regional Council at the last plenary session, which are intended to cover transport and dining costs.
