Pilot program to alleviate the energy poverty of people at risk of social exclusion

The Department of Social Rights promotes a pilot program

The Department of Social Rights has launched a pilot program to address the energy poverty situation in people at risk of social exclusion who live in public housing. The main objective of this project is to provide help and support to families who are in a vulnerable situation.

Actions to improve energy efficiency

The program combines several actions to improve the energy efficiency of residential homes. Through the rehabilitation and improvement of the facilities, the aim is to reduce energy consumption and, at the same time, enable people to adapt their consumption habits to their needs and economic possibilities.

Social support and financial support

In addition to the actions in the homes, the program also offers social support and financial support to the participating families. This support aims to break with situations of social isolation and facilitate access to resources such as the minimum vital income (IMV).

Impact assessment and knowledge transfer

The program includes an evaluation to measure the impact of the different actions and determine their effectiveness in reducing energy poverty. In addition, the results of the evaluation will serve to transfer knowledge and experience to other territories, as well as to make future political decisions in relation to energy poverty.

Tips to save energy

Thermal comfort in summer

– To prevent the sun from entering the house directly, it is recommended to close blinds, awnings or shutters.
– It is also advisable to open the windows at the ends of the house early in the morning and at night to allow the circulation of fresh air.

Electricity saving

– It is recommended to adjust the contracted power to the actual needs and contract the ‘Voluntary price for the small consumer’ rate.
– You can also check if you meet the requirements to qualify for the social bonus, which offers a significant discount on your electricity bill.

Gas savings

– It is recommended to contract the rate of last resort (TUR) and, if you have the social electricity voucher, you will receive a bonus corresponding to the thermal voucher.

Water saving

– If there are more than three people registered in the household, the supply company can be requested to adjust the sections of the bill.
– It is also recommended to consult the available bonuses and apply for them if the requirements are met.
