The group specialized in forestry interventions of the Fire Department of the Generalitat
Jordi Castellví is one of the sub-inspectors who is part of this group and stars in the micro-documentary Firefighters: in the line of fire, produced by Nació and Ben Mirat Produccions with the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
A vocation that was born at a young age
Castellví discovered his vocation at the age of 14, when he read in the newspaper of his town, in Montblanc, that they were looking for collaborators for forest fire tasks. Together with a friend, they introduced themselves and since then, Castellví has dedicated his life to this exciting profession.
The day-to-day life of a GRUP firefighter
The micro-documentary shows the day-to-day life of a GRUP firefighter, from the inside, through the personal history of Castellví. From his early years as a volunteer firefighter in Pla del Serral, to the present day, through the 2008 Montblanc fire, which left a deep mark on him.
The importance of advice and trust
Castellví emphasizes the importance of advice in his work. As a member of the GROUP, he must learn to think about how a fire moves, to control the weather and to draw up strategies to deal with emergency situations. Advising your colleagues is a delicate task, as a bad decision can have serious consequences. Trust is one of the most important values to be able to work in a team.
A benchmark in his career
Xesco Nuñez, with 40 years of experience in the Generalitat Fire Department, has been a key point of reference in Jordi’s career. Nuñez has been like a father to him, teaching him everything he knows and supporting him at all times.
