A reflection on life through poetic logic
Nothing is repeated, nor will it be repeated twice. This is the premise that guides the photographic exhibition of the Polish writer Wisława Szymborska (1923-2012) and which has inspired the work of the photographer Israel Ariño (Barcelona, 1974). In this exhibition, Ariño invites us to explore less obvious everyday geographies, captured under an aura of mystery and fixed in time.
The diversity of formats as artistic expression
During the opening, Ariño explained his experimentation with formats, from the extension of a book along a wall to the presentation of several photographic series. Through series such as Crónicas d’un desembarc (2005), Obirar (2012) and The gravity of the place (2017), the artist invites us to contemplate spaces and situations that often go unnoticed, all the while evidencing his poetic vision of the world .
Recognize photographic talent and its territorial projection
The curator of the exhibition, Montse Puig, emphasized the complexity of the assembly in the room, while underlining the lack of exhibition spaces dedicated to photographic talent in Catalonia. This exhibition, which can be visited until May 19, inaugurates a cycle dedicated to photographic artists with territorial ties, as explained by the director of the Museu de l’Empordà, Eduard Bech, on the day of the inauguration.
Parallel activities for an enriching experience
Accompanying the exhibition, several activities will take place, such as a dialogue between the geographer Joan Nogué, the editor and curator Montse Puig and the artist Israel Ariño. A workshop titled How to read a picture book has also been scheduled, aimed at children aged six and over, in order to enrich the artistic experience of the younger audience.
