The Rural Nursery of the Protected Landscape of the Millars River Mouth protects the fluvial space

Dismantling of poaching mechanisms

The Rural Care Service of the Protected Landscape of the Millars River Mouth has dismantled several mechanisms used for poaching in the river area. This action aims to protect the fauna and preserve the area’s biodiversity.

Hiding points

The guards have discovered two hiding spots built with natural materials and perfectly camouflaged. These points were used by poachers to lie in wait. Green-necked feathers have been found at these points, indicating that birds were probably hunted in this area. This area is a quiet and important space for feeding and resting for several species of birds.

trap box

Another artifact dismantled by the Rural Childcare Service is a trap box used to capture granivorous birds. This trap box was hidden in the undergrowth and contained seeds to attract birds. When the birds approached to eat the seeds, they were caught in the netting of the trap box. This illegal action endangered the lives of several species of birds.

Constant surveillance

The Rural Care Service maintains constant vigilance in the 14 linear kilometers of the Millars River Mouth Protected Landscape. This area is managed by the town councils of Vila-real, Almassora, Borriana, the Diputació de Castelló and the Generalitat Valenciana. The main objective is to prevent illegal activities such as hunting and poaching, as well as to protect and preserve the natural wealth of this river space.
