Transformation of Figueres: Creation of 5 new kilometers of cycle path

Investment in Sustainable Mobility

Figueres City Council is committed to the transformation of the city through a significant investment in sustainable mobility. In this sense, 1.4 million euros will be allocated, from the Next Generation European funds, for the creation of five new kilometers of cycle paths.

Urban Connection Project

The project, with a June 2025 deadline, includes the transformation of Carrer Nou, where one of the car lanes will be converted into a two-way bike lane. This road will be one of the main entrances to the city centre, connecting it with other areas such as the Parc de les Aigües and the surroundings of the old prison.

Positive Impact on Mobility

With this initiative, Figueres will expand its network of bike lanes, connecting them with the city center and other key areas. This expansion will add 5 new kilometers to the 9.3 already existing, consolidating a total of 17 kilometers of bike lanes by 2025.

Benefits for the Community

The Councilor for Mobility and Sustainability, Núria Bartrolich, emphasizes that this project will not only improve mobility, but will also contribute to the pacification of urban areas, the creation of green spaces and the promotion of sustainable travel.

Planning and Execution

The transformation plan is planned to begin execution as soon as possible, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens. In addition, it is planned to create five safe parking spaces for bicycles, linked to the new bicycle lanes, to encourage the use of this sustainable means of transport.
