A Disused Space
During the last regular meeting of the Valldoreix Residents’ Council, there was a debate on the arrangement of the old football field located near the Can Badal stream. This is an opportunity for the Valldoreix community to revitalize a disused space and turn it into a meeting place for all sports lovers.
A Community Demand
The proposal to arrange the football field has been presented by the president of Valldoreix F.C., Santiago Brugarolas, who has highlighted the importance of this initiative to meet the needs of the club’s more than 300 students. Brugarolas has expressed his concern about the lack of interest of the administration in supporting his demands and has pointed to the lack of spaces as one of the main obstacles to the growth of the club.
A Complex Decision
In response to this demand, President Juanjo Cortés and the representatives of Economy and Finance, Ramon Segura and Xavier Humet, have ruled out investing nearly 300,000 euros to fix the current football field. According to them, the land is in a flood zone and there are several limitations of the Catalan Water Agency (ACA). In addition, they have highlighted that the current facilities do not meet the dimensions required for a regulatory field and the construction of annexed buildings.
A Long Term Opportunity
However, the executive has expressed his interest in finding an alternative location for the construction of a new football field of more than 8,000 m2. This project, however, is considered long-term and is not one of the immediate priorities. The aim is to ensure that if a new football ground is built, it is done properly and meets the needs of the community.
A Complex Decision
In conclusion, the arrangement of the old Valldoreix football pitch is an opportunity for the community to revitalize a disused space and meet the needs of Valldoreix F.C. Despite the difficulties and limitations, the administration is open to exploring long-term alternatives for the construction of a new football field. This is a complex decision that requires detailed analysis and the participation of all the actors involved.
