Battle of Zarzuela: the war of kings continues

A war of clashing queens

In Zarzuela, a battle is being fought that for weeks has ceased to be sibylline, Florentine, fencing and is now with machetes. It is the continuation of the so-called war of queens that reached its peak with a famous scene in the Cathedral of Palma on Easter Sunday. On this occasion, Letícia humiliated Sofia in front of the cameras, facing the bewilderment of Felipe and Spain. Since then, Letícia has tried to hide the deep contempt she has for her mother-in-law. Sofia, for her part, has always rejected her, considering her commoner and now an adulteress. The animosity is mutual.

The role of Letícia

The problem is that the Del Burgo affair, which never stops, has ended up partially proving the emerita, who did not see Letícia at the head of the Royal House with good eyes. Faced with this scandal, Felipe has decided to make a strong decision: corner Letícia on the official agenda. This has meant a significant change in the role of Letícia, who is now relegated and humiliated.

The current situation

It is an open secret that Queen Letícia has not presided over a single official event for more than a month. The entire agenda is Felipe’s and on several occasions his wife from the troupe accompanies him. This humiliation is even greater when compared to the situation of Sofia, who despite being 85 years old and having been convalescing, continues to have her own acts and act like the true queen of Spain. This week, Letícia will only appear on Saturday as Felipe’s troupe in a military event. On the other hand, Sofia has attended an official event to which Letícia has not been present. This situation clearly demonstrates the buried war between queens.

The Zarzuela game

Felipe has acceded to Leticia’s demands for fear that an unhinged and divorced queen could start a destructive campaign for the Crown. Thus, Sofia now occupies Letícia’s place in the eyes of the press, of public opinion and, most dangerously for Letícia, in her own eyes. This power play is obvious and seeks to undermine Letícia’s position as Queen of Spain.

Conclusion

The battle in Zarzuela continues and the tensions between Letícia and Sofia seem to have no end. While Letícia is sidelined and humiliated, Sofia takes the place that was once Letícia’s. However, this situation is presented as an accident in order not to make evident the tensions between the two queens. The war of queens continues and the outcome of this battle is still uncertain.
