Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: a new stage in California

A new life in California

Since starring in the famous ‘Megxit’, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left London behind to start a new life in sunny California. Although Harry proclaimed on the program ‘Good Morning America’ that his life in Los Angeles was ‘incredible’, the reality could be very different. Royal experts now suggest Prince Harry is planning a permanent return to the UK. Apparently, the young royal not only misses life in his native land, but also misses certain aspects that he has not been able to replicate in the United States. With no official residence in the UK after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year, Harry could be looking for a new base of operations in England.

Nostalgia for the past life

Writer Tom Quinn, speaking to the ‘Mirror’, stated that Harry misses his old life in the UK. ‘As time goes on, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period when everything in America is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking to the past,’ said Quinn.

A controversial reason

Besides nostalgia for his past life, there is another, more controversial reason why Harry would want a home in England. According to Quinn, many of Harry’s friends from Eton and the army have not visited him in the US because they cannot stand Meghan Markle. This tense social dynamic could be influencing Harry’s desire to return to his homeland, where he feels more connected and understood by his former peers. The situation has created an atmosphere of isolation for Harry, who used to be the life of the party in his social circle. The lack of visits from his close friends and the constant media pressure on his relationship with Meghan have increased his discontent and his desire to return to a more familiar and welcoming environment.

La perdua de Frogmore Cottage

The current revelations coincide with Harry’s heartfelt confessions in his memoir ‘Spare’, published in 2023, about the sadness he felt when leaving Frogmore Cottage. This residence, located in the grounds of Windsor Castle, was a gift from the late Elizabeth II in 2018. However, her stay at Frogmore Cottage was short-lived. In late 2019, they declared their intention to retire from royal duties, and by the following year, the residence was no longer their home.

In his autobiography, Harry describes a poignant moment at the house after Prince Philip’s funeral, where he was overcome with deep sadness at the realization that what he imagined as his ‘forever home’ had become on a mere scale. Now, with Meghan apparently determined not to set foot in England again, Harry could be looking for a place to himself where he can reclaim some of the life he left behind. Prince Harry faces a crossroads: continue his life in the United States, surrounded by controversy and isolation, or return to his homeland in search of the connection and security he so longs for. Only time will tell what his next step will be.
