A journey through time: Remembering 2014
September 2014 marked a turning point, not only for CRÍTIC, but for politics and society in general. At that time, Barack Obama occupied the White House, the PP maintained control in Spain despite corruption scandals, and Leo Messi continued to bring memorable moments to FC Barcelona. In addition, Catalonia was preparing for the independence consultation on 9-N, an event that would trigger the Process. In this context, Ada Colau announced her candidacy for mayor of Barcelona, while society was fighting the aftermath of the Great Depression.
CRITIC: A commitment to quality journalism
Since its birth, CRÍTIC has committed to rigorous and committed journalism. At the time of the launch, the front page of La Vanguardia highlighted the intentions of President Artur Mas to advance elections, while CRÍTIC presented an investigation that revealed the Generalitat’s debt to the banks. This was our first step towards a narrative that seeks truth and transparency.
