An event with tradition and innovation
On Saturday 29, at 12 noon, the picnic of the Horta will become the stage of a unique day, where more than 100 runners of the West Runners Project will start this exciting activity promoted by Lleida Turisme. This proposal not only celebrates sport, but also marks the beginning of a new era gastronomic in Lleida, in the context of the ‘Catalonia World Region of Gastronomy Region 2025’.
Local gastronomy at the center of the action
The picnic promises to be a festive of authentic flavors, with tastings of local ingredients, such as the famous Cache, snails and a variety of dishes made with fresh produce from the orchard. The Cartxipanda, a traditional dish that combines sausage with seasonal vegetables, will be the main thread of this culinary experience.
A commitment to quality
The event is based on the richness of the Horta de Lleida, with a special approach to vegetables and other local products that reflect the authenticity of the region. More than a ton of vegetables are expected to prepare for the cacheanda, complemented by 250 kilos of snails in the gormanda and a selection of wines and craft beers.

This gastronomic initiative is supported by Som Gastronomia de la Generalitat de Catalunya, as well as several local companies, including Vall Companys and Amara 100% vegetable. In addition, groups such as the Guild of Bakers of Lleida and the Association of Producers of the Horta de Lleida are involved in the organization of this event, which promotes cultural identity and sustainability.

To fully enjoy the experience, it is advisable to book in advance the picnic kit, which includes a backpack, a hallmark, a sandwich adapted for people with celiac disease and a delicious sausage tasting with samfaina. The price of the advance reservation is 10 euros, while the tickets purchased on the same day will cost 14 euros, with limited availability.
