The Elite returns through the front door
The group La Elite has earned recognition in the latest edition of the festival, performing one of the most impressive concerts. Although they performed after Yung Beef, their success has ensured their return for this new event. This year, they present their new album and become the only artists to have participated in two consecutive editions of this festival that celebrates ten years of history. Along with them, a varied poster headed by artists such as Sen Senra, Cupido, Baiuca, Rodrigo Cuevas and He killed a motorized police officer, as well as many others.
A fusion of genres and styles
The organizers have opted for an interesting mix of electronic music and identity roots. Artists such as Baiuca, who fuses traditional Galician music with modern rhythms, and Rodrigo Cuevas, who adds an Asturian folkloric touch, highlight this trend. Furthermore, the Mallorcan artist María Hein and Guillem Gisbert have decided to experiment in their latest works, moving away from the simplicity of their beginnings to incorporate autotune and synthesizers, offering high-quality lyrics in Catalan. In this way, the current edition highlights the cultural richness, showing an unprecedented linguistic diversity compared to previous editions.
An improvement in the representation of Catalan
Last year, many critics pointed out the lack of artists performing in Catalan, despite having a vibrant emerging scene and notable artists such as Mushkaa, Julieta, Figa Flawas and others. However, for this edition, the programmers have corrected that omission, including María Hein, Guillem Gisbert, as well as Mushkaa and Julieta, who will share the stage with talents such as La Zowi, Cruz Cafuné, Diego 900 and Soto Asa. Although some still miss the artist María Jaume, who released an exceptional album this year,
A different festival
This 2024 festival is characterized by its closer and less crowded atmosphere compared to other large format festivals. A local audience predominates, which allows you to enjoy a more authentic experience. Decisions regarding artist selection are carefully considered, ensuring that each performance resonates with attendees.
Jaume Clotet’s performance
Jaume Clotet transforms the parties we’ve all experienced into a trap performance with a unique approach. His show is complemented by projections by Albert Sánchez and a captivating staging that turns music into a shared experience, giving rise to a community that celebrates life and nostalgia. Through his art, Clotet evokes memories of youth, parties and simple moments that resonate with each viewer, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and joy.
Fun and criticism in his performance
To describe Jaume Clotet’s performance as directed solely at a young audience would be to limit its essence. While it certainly appeals to younger audiences, its irony and implicit social criticism also make it relevant to other audiences. The combination of music and performance creates a space where serious themes are explored with humor and sagacity.
A festival to enjoy
Upon leaving the event, the positive energy was such that I found myself reflecting on the possibility of wishing for more performances like Clotet’s at other festivals. The idea that every holiday can and should include performances that go beyond conventional concerts is exciting. The mix of performing arts and music seems to be the perfect formula for a memorable experience. By the way, everyone still has the opportunity to enjoy their performance until this Sunday at the Antic Teatre, a meeting that, without a doubt, will be the best of the week.
