A jubilee of diaries: Reflections on Service and Communion

An International event in Rome

More than 6,000 pilgrims from various corners of the world have arrived in Rome this weekend, attracted by a Jubilee event dedicated to Diaconate. Among them, 4,000 permanent deacons have traveled with their families to participate in this significant celebration.

Moments of communion and reflection

About 350 attendees came from our country, including three deacons who were ordered to the majestic Basilica of Saint Peter. The culmination of the Jubilee took place with a solemn mass, after a week of meetings and catechesis in various churches in the city. The families of the deacons were actively involved in these activities, strengthening the feeling of community.

The Pope’s message

Pope Francis, who led a special homily from the Gemelli Hospital, emphasized the importance of service and forgiveness in the life of deacons. Its message resonated with the evangelical reading of love and forgiveness, instinct to deacons to be agents of reconciliation in a world marked by conflict.

A serving church

The final document of the synod, which is part of the pope’s teaching, emphasizes that the diaconal ministry is still unknown to many. Local churches are called to foster diaconate as an essential element for the maturation of a church -dedicated church.

The model of Sant Llorenç

The Pope recalled the example of St. Lawrence, patron saint of deacons, who showed that true wealth is in love and service to others. Francis exhaled the deacons to follow this path, becoming bridges between the altar and the streets, bringing hope to those who need it most.

A future of communion and hope

In a world where forgiveness is more necessary than ever, the pope urged deacons to be agents of change, building a future where unity and understanding are possible. Its message is clear: the selfless service and gratitude are essential for the construction of a better world.
